I have been fascinated with making art since I was very young and loved being "in the zone"—losing track of time and being absorbed in my project at hand. This ultimately led me to pursue Fine Arts and Commercial Design in college. Although elated I could make art all day, it was also my introduction to critiques! Daunting at first, these crucial exercises taught me how to collaborate, setting the foundation for working hand-in-hand with my clients to come up with a unique solution for their needs.
After getting experience in my field, I decided to open my own company. But before this I took 6 months to travel throughout Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe. I naively thought this would get the travel bug out of my system—luckily it didn't! When travelling I leave my analytical left brain behind, go outside my comfort zone, and immerse myself in other cultures. I love the result that comes from being open to new experiences and use this as inspiration as to how I approach my work. I am also interested in learning new skills, all of which keep me inspired and benefits my work and art as well. I've attended Toastmasters (for much longer than I thought I would last) and taken Spanish lessons (for much longer than my teacher probably wanted!). I dabble in printmaking and sculpture and am determined to cook the perfect bowl of ramen. My love of animals has landed an adopted greyhound on my couch...my current project being teaching him to sit. This last project is ongoing as he's still on the couch and sitting isn't in his near future! |
